If you ever feel tired and just wanted a simple Japanese meal to finish the day, this is the place. Cozy, a lil old school and homely cooked food will warm your soul. It’s not expensive at all compared to nearby restaurants, and it delivers quality. Pretty quiet inside with a few tables of patrons, both tourists and locals. Love the atmosphere inside, it feels like the kinda restaurant you want for your community.

Very lovely family run eatery! The store has been open since the Meiji era and we can see why!! The staff were all very welcoming and polite, with a very endearing mama chef The food was amazing, very hearty and flavourful for the simple choices, and the portions were really generous. We stayed slightly past operating hours and they were still so hospitable and kind to us. We went back again for lunch because everything was so enjoyable

An extremely lucky find, family-run restaurant established since the Meiji Era. Super friendly owner and absolutely delicious Japanese comfort food for very reasonable prices. Every single dish we ordered was sumptuous whether from their regular menu or seasonal menu. Special shout out for their Yosenabe (do go for their porridge option, where towards the end of your soup they take it away, add rice and egg and turn it into a brand new rice porridge type dish). Crispy tempura. Fresh soba, fragrant fried pork. Absolutely nothing disappointed us and we made sure to let the owner know how much we enjoyed dining there.

The food was good and filling, I had the pork cutlet bowl. There is an english menu that you can request, and staff delivered great service.

It was delicious, one of the best meals I have had in Kyoto so far! The quantity, quality and price were great! The staff was really nice and welcoming! I will be coming back

Went on a recommendation from our ryokan and loved it! No wait, great food, and wonderful value. The staff were super welcoming and friendly. However, the atmosphere was the highlight for us. We felt like we were able to step back in time a little bit. Wish we had the chance to eat here again before we left Kyoto.

Had dinner here in my Japan trip last month. Welcoming and polite owners as others have mentioned. I had a prawns tempura noodle set. I found out later that they also have some good Japanese style omelettes which I missed out on. Good food and cleanliness. Highly recommended.
